Answer: It is very much a scam!! It is a lot to deal with but you will have to close your bank account. I had to close my account and start over at another bank when this happened to me. They can not go after you for it as you have already attempted to pay. If you have kept records of the times you have called and who you talked to when they contact you this will help. Let them know if they want any other money out of you they will have to speak to your lawyer ( you dont have to have one - just use this as a bluff) they should back off at that point. DO NOT CALL THEM AGAIN AND TELL THEM WHAT YOU ARE DOING. Chances are they will not even try to contact you again.
